Please note that personal training may not be available at all times of the day/evening. Members with a training program will coordinate your session time with their trainer based on the trainer’s availability schedule.

You can become a member by visiting our Membership Page and completing an online registration process. We offer two different memberships plans: one that bills monthly and another that bills yearly (10% savings). Once you have submitted the payment, your membership will be active and you are welcome to start right away.

Thunder Fitness supports youth fitness and will grant memberships and/or personal training programs to individuals aged 12 years or older. For the safety of our youth and teen members, the following guidelines have been established and are not negotiable:
All minors (12-17 years old) must have a parent or legal guardian co-sign their liability waiver. Individuals under the age of 18 do not have the legal right to sign for themselves.
Minors who are 14 or younger must have a parent or guardian present with them (on-site) in order to use the gym facility or participate in personal training. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the immediate termination of your memberships without refund.

Working with a personal trainer can be highly beneficial whether you are brand new to working out or an experienced athlete. Trainers bring a wealth of knowledge and personal experience that can help you optimize the time you spend in the gym and maximize your results. Furthermore, unlike popular social media platforms or generic fitness programs/apps, personal trainers work with you one-on-one to provide targeted plans that are unique to your specific fitness or health-related goals. You will gain a source of motivation as well as accountability. Most importantly, trainers will be able to show you the correct form for a wide variety of exercises and lifting techniques, which will help you achieve the desired impact while also reducing the risk of injuries. If you are interested in working with a personal trainer, please visit our Training Programs page to see pricing options.

Every person is different, so there is not a one-size-fits-all answer to this question; however, there are a few things to consider when you are making a decision about what type of program is right for you:
Goal Timeline and Magnitude: If you have a big goal, particularly one on an aggressive timeline (less than 6 months), then more frequent training paired with your own discipline will help you stay on track and make progress at a faster rate than a less frequent program.
Level of Experience in the Gym: If you are brand new to strength training or cardiovascular exercise, having the support of a trainer more frequently will help you learn the correct techniques and reduce your likelihood of accidental injury. Additionally, if you have hit a plateau in your training, working with a trainer a few times each week can help refresh your routines and jump-start your forward progress.
Work-Life Balance: You should consider your realistic work-life commitments when selecting a training program. Look at your average weekly calendar and see how many days a week you can consistently schedule a 1-hour average appointment.
Financial Considerations: Think about how your personal training will fit into your monthly budget. At Thunder Fitness, we understand that financial situations can change; therefore, we do not lock you into a specific program for a term-contract like most gyms. You have the freedom to upgrade or downgrade your program at your discretion.
Motivation and Preparedness: Are you ready to hit the ground running or are you dipping a toe into the water? Your level of motivation can help you determine the best program for you.
You can learn more about our different programs by visiting our Training Programs page.

One of the things that sets us apart from the corporate gyms is that we do not tie you up in impersonal, rigid contracts. If you would like to change, pause, or cancel your program or membership, you have that option (though we would hate to see you go!). The process is simple and designed to be as hassle-free as possible.
Submit a request in writing through this website—PRIOR to your next billing date. We ask that you do this a minimum of 3 days prior to your billing date if possible to allow administrative staff and our system the appropriate amount of time to process your request. You can CLICK HERE to complete your request. To avoid any miscommunication or delays in processing your request, we kindly ask that you do not make verbal requests.
Please note that once you have been billed for a new month (membership and/or training), you are not eligible for a refund for that month. Requests received after your billing date will default to the next billing cycle. If you are unsure about your billing date, you can look up that information using your client portal or the contact us feature on this website to request the information.

Nope!
It’s common practice at corporate gyms to nickel and dime clients by making them pay for their membership and training programs separately—often with multiple initiation or start-up fees! We think that’s pretty ridiculous, so we don’t do either. Here’s how we do it:
If you are signed-up for a training program, your membership fee is already included in your monthly dues (at a discounted rate for our Gold and Red programs.)
If you have a membership but later decide to add a personal training program, your billing for your membership will be paused indefinitely (until you conclude your training program).
If you conclude your training program but would still like to work out on your own in our gym, your training program will be replaced with a standard monthly membership.

At this time, Thunder Fitness San Jose does not offer childcare services. To promote a safe environment for our staff as well as members, we ask that you do not bring children to the gym with you during your workout. Children are not allowed in the training area, as there is significant risk of injury to them and/or the members utilizing our equipment.
